Work

I work on technology before the answer is obvious.

That means deciding which questions deserve serious money, what evidence would settle them, and how an idea survives the trip from demonstration to use.

01

Develop

Ask a question worth answering.

At DARPA, I turn a technical question into a program: what must become possible, what stands in the way, what evidence would count, and what result would prove we were wrong. The goal is not to fund activity. It is to buy down uncertainty about something that could matter.

  • AI and autonomy
  • Complex systems
02

Scale

The technology is not the whole product.

A breakthrough can be real and still go nowhere. Through Wave Function Ventures, I help early-stage companies think through capital, customers, government, evidence, organizational design, and who must say yes. That surrounding system is often harder to build than the technology.

03

Explain

Make the hidden structure visible.

I write, speak, and build visual models about technology and systems. I am not interested in making hard ideas sound easy. I want to show where the incentives, feedback loops, assumptions, and decision rights actually sit so people can do something about them.
